Unit Standard 229998 Explain and perform fall arrest techniques when working at height
Safety training is not just for companies who want their staff to be compliant. In many cases private learners what to become qualified in working at heights with a certificate to enhance their CV. Often times contractors need the certification for themselves.
FTS Safety's public classes are an easy opportunity to get a working at height certificate in a single day.
Our Durban venue in Umgeni Park has plenty of safe parking behind a gate and with a security guard on duty. Lunch is included in the course price.
Public classes are more interactive.
You have candidates from various companies and industries all joining together so the questions are interesting and you get additional insight into the risks in different industries.
The qualifying learner is capable of:
- Explaining the use and limitations of a limited range of fall arrest equipment and fall arrest plan.
- Inspecting, assembling and storing fall arrest equipment.
- Selecting suitable anchor points.
- Using fall arrest systems with a double lanyard.
- Using pre-installed vertical and horizontal life-lines.
As working at height is a high risk exercise you should also be medically fit and in possession of a medical certificate, declaring you free from a condition that may prevent you from working safely at height
What should you bring?
- A copy of your ID document
- Safety shoes or boots
- A harness
- Appropriate clothing for climbing on ladders or scaffolding on a worksite
Your certificate will be emailed within 7 days. If you require proof that you have attended immediately please let the course facilitator know on the morning of training.
